If you are taking a trip down the interstate this weekend, the Maine DOT wants to remind you to SLOW DOWN because "Santa sees you when you are speeding"

According to the Portland Press Herald, the Maine DOT has changed the variable signs along a 53 mile stretch of I-295 (Scarborough to West Gardiner) to read "Santa Sees You When You Are Speeding"

Maine DOT spokesman Ted Talbot said the messages went up last night and will remain on the digital boards until after the Holiday.

Talbot said, “We’re glad there is some humor in the message.  It doesn’t always have to be a wave of the finger.”

Seriously though, if you are travelling this weekend, please be safe.  You are not just putting yourself at risk with your speeding, careless driving, or driving under the influence.  You risk the lives of everyone else on the road at risk.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays
