Some Maine schools have entered a 'hold in place' protocol following alleged threats that were made on Thursday.

WGME 13 is reporting the Maine's RSU 21 is currently holding in place while law enforcement works to determine the source and credibility of a threat that they say came in against the schools on Thursday morning.

The news station tells us that parents of children who attend the schools have been told not to come to the schools or to call the office until police have cleared the threat. Superintendent of RSU 21, Terri Cooper, says that they will remain under this protocol until law enforcement officials have deemed it safe to do otherwise.

RSU 21 is comprised of several Maine schools that include Kennebunk Elementary, Kennebunkport Consolidated School, Mildred L. Day School, Sea Road School, Middle School of The Kennebunks and Kennebunk High School according to the RSU's formal website.

In a related story about this matter from WMTW News 8, officials tell the media that email threats were sent to schools all around the country on Thursday morning, including 'several' schools in Maine.

This is a developing story that we will keep a close eye on as more details begin to emerge regarding the threats and their source. We will keep this story updated as more information is made available to us.
