Chris Walters is a busy guy. When he's not editing his feature film, SRQ State of Mind, he's working on his web series, Action, planning his next movie, The Bluebird Theory and, oh yeah, raising two girls, Gracie and Lydia.
I have known Jon James for over 23 years. A lifetime! And yet, every now and then a little detail comes up that blows my mind. I learned this week that Jon has never been to Vaughan Woods in Hallowell. Some people call it Hobbit Land. Jon was born and raised in the Gardiner-Augusta area. He has lived here his whole life, HOW is this possible?
"Would you still love me if I was ever in a car crash and disabled?"
That's the question I remember asking my girlfriend, Tammy, as I dropped her off at her job at Robinson's Nursing Home in Gardiner on Saturday morning, 6/21/80, the first day of summer and a couple weeks after I had graduated high school.
I was out in Vaughn's Woods and shot this video. ShadowDog and I had just finished walking the loop and he was a little tired. (Yes, I am blaming the dog!!) So we took a break and spent a few moments relaxing on one of the smaller bridges. Enjoy!
The waters of the Kennebec River keep right on rising throughout the day on April 16. As of noon, the roads leading to the river in Hallowell were all closed due to flooding and in Augusta, it looked like the fast-flowing river was going to burst its banks along Water Street
Ethan and Emily Bessey are the most wonderful, most humble, most thankful people you'll ever meet. Thankful for their friends and community. Thankful for each other and their little girl, Daisy. They are also thankful for having had little Ezra in their lives. Though he was but an infant when he left this world due to Spinal Muscular Atrophy, he had the power to move a community. His family's love for him was redirected in a way that can benefit children in the future and, in refocusing their purpose, have captured the hearts of everyone who meets them...
Wow! Gotta say, my chin was draggin' on the floor this morning with lack of sleep and lack of coffee. Then, Melissa Jones came into the room! She's a bundle of good energy! She wants to share it with you too, tonight!
"Keep the Wheels Rollin'," is what the show's called. We're talking about the wheels that deliver meals to shut-ins all over central Maine. These are people who look forward to, not just the meal, but also, the company. Honestly, with government cutbacks, too many are on a waiting list.
