I'm a huge fan of zombie apocalypse movies, TV shows, books, games, etc.  Not just because of The Walking Dead, either.  I've been a fan of the genre going back to when I was a teen and first watched the original George Romero movies.

Last night, I had a chance to see one of the best zombie-ish (Like 28 Days Later, they're not really undead zombies, just crazy and cannibalistic) movies I have ever seen.  Pandemic, currently trending on Netflix, follows four government workers sent to rescue a group of survivors from a school in downtown LA.  The fact that it is shot mostly first person (like Blair Witch or Cloverfield) makes it unique, but the really cool part is that it stars Augusta native Rachel Nichols!

She was born in Augusta and is a 1998 graduate of Cony High School.  She went to college at Columbia University and while in college, she was noticed by a modeling agent and was hired to work in Paris.  She was able to pay for college with the proceeds from her modeling career.  Since college, she has starred in a pile of movies and shows like: CBS' Criminal Minds, Syfy's Continuum, the G. I. Joe movies, and JJ Abrams Star Trek movie (where she played a green alien love interest of Chris Pines' Kirk).

So, check out Rachel Nichols in Pandemic on Netflix
