19 Tarantulas & A Python Found in Empty Maine Apartment
We know him and we love him for all he does for animals here in Maine. 'Mr. Drew' of 'Mr. Drew & His Animals, Too' was called in by officials to help rescue some pretty interesting animals that were apparently left behind by a tenant in an Auburn, Maine apartment.
According to the Kennebec Journal, Drew Desjardin (Mr. Drew) received a phone call on Wednesday from a 'nervous' Auburn landlord who had entered a vacant Auburn apartment and made a pretty hair-raising discovery. 19 tarantulas and a ball python had been left behind by the former tenant.
Out of the 19 tarantulas, 4 had died. The Ball Python was found alive but with no access to water. Mr. Drew, who is famous for his educational animal shows around Maine, took all of the living animals back to his home and told the KJ that all are doing well.
Since some of these animals are illegal in Maine, he will need to rehome the spiders elsewhere. There is not word yet on who the former tenant of the apartment may have been and if that person could face any kind of legal trouble for leaving all of these creatures behind.
