There is big news that has hit us hard that involves our spit. Yes, spit.

Well, it’s our DNA.

23andMe, a DNA genetic testing company, has officially filed for bankruptcy, according to The New York Times, to and if you’ve ever sent of a little tube of spit in order to find out where you come from, you may be concerned with what will happen to all of your spit info.  

Did you do it?

Did you find out if your ancestors came to Maine from Europe or were Vikings that sailed across the North Atlantic to land here? Maybe you’ve got some deep Maine roots, and that’s why you’ve got that "tough as Maine granite" spirit!

Okay, enough of the spitting.

 

Down to business, the company at one time was valued at $6 billion dollars.

It’s so surprising that this had to happen because finding out where you come from has been a big trend in the past 10 years.

Especially with the hit show, “Who Do You Think You Are”. We all jumped on the band wagon and now the wagon has filed for bankruptcy.  

23andMe has however told us that the genetic information and data they have gathered is safe and will not be sold off to the highest bidder.

With that said though, according to Yahoo News, privacy experts are warning folks that if the company changes owners than the polices could also change so it’s very good to stay informed.  

Deleting you 23andMe account

Deleting your account has been made pretty simple by 23andme and you can even request for them to destroy your biological samples.

This entire situation is a reminder to think twice before sending in personal information or spit, but seriously we are in the 2025, it’s hard not to give out your personal information, everyone needs it nowadays.
