89-Suite Massive Hotel Complete With Indoor Pool & Workout Room Planned for Waterville, Maine
For a couple of years we've been hearing murmurs about the possibility of a large-scale hotel being constructed in the Waterville area. And now, that massive hotel has only one hurdle left to clear.
According to the Morning Sentinel, the Waterville Planning Board will meet on Tuesday evening to, among other things, vote on approving the final plans for the 89-unit hotel complex.
The hotel, if approved, would be located near the corner of Industrial Street and Armory Roads in Waterville on a currently undeveloped plot of land. If the company gets the nod from Waterville officials, the Home2 Suites by Hilton will begin construction on the project some time this year.
The hotel would be built where there are already two others within walking distance. Those other hotels are of course the Fireside Inn & Suites and the Best Western Plus Waterville Grand Hotel, both of which are on Waterville's Main Street.
However, this new hotel would be a little bit different. The Home2 Suites complex is designed as more of an extended-stay hotel with larger than normal rooms. According to an excerpt from Wiki,
Home2 Suites by Hilton is an American all-suite extended-stay hotel featuring contemporary accommodations and customizable guest room design. It competes with TownePlace Suites by Marriott and InterContinental Hotels Group's Candlewood Suites.
The hotel would be a 16,000 square foot building and include 95 parking spaces, the Morning Sentinel reported. The Waterville Planning Board is expected to cast the final vote Tuesday evening at 7pm.
