As part of their homecoming celebration, Brunswick High School's football team was supposed to host Lawrence High School's football team in a Friday night game.

However, according to the KJ, that game has been canceled as school officials continue to investigate allegations of hazing and bullying.

The bullying and hazing incidents, that took place between members of the school's football team, allegedly took place during the team's football retreat.

In a letter to students and staff, the school's superintendent, Phil Potenziano, explained:

As I have shared with the community, we are thoroughly investigating these allegations to ascertain the facts and will take any and all appropriate steps to address all substantiated allegations. However, in light of this ongoing investigation, the administrative team and I have met and determined that we will cancel this evening’s BHS v. Lawrence High School varsity football game.

The cancelation was very last minute.  Some members of the staff were not made aware of the change until just after noon today (Friday).

There is no word on when, or if, the game will be made up.

All of the other homecoming games are expected to take place as planned.
