Why does this story seem like it should start with a sentence like, 'a Florida man has been caught after...'? However, at least at this point, we don't think that this involved any men from Florida.

As a matter of fact, we're not even sure if it was a man who did this, though as a man myself, I have a suspicion that it likely was, though I'm no detective.

So what exactly happened? Well, according to an article that was published on Sunday by the Kennebec Journal, someone allegedly stole a forklift from a construction site on Center Street in Auburn on Saturday night.

However, this wasn't just a little regular forklift like you see cruising the aisles at Home Depot. Rather, this was a very large telescopic handler forklift. As someone who has some experience in operating this machines, they are large, bulky, tall and dangerous if you don't know what you're doing.

Whoever allegedly stole this thing clearly didn't realize what they were doing as moments after attempting to drive away in it, they drover the extended boom right into overhead powerlines.

This caused the machine to become entangled in the high-voltage lines and subsequently knocked power out to nearly 7,000 nearby residents and businesses. Fortunately, Central Maine Power was able to quickly re-route powerlines and get customers back online within 10 minutes of arriving at the scene.

At this time, the suspect(s) are still at large, according to the KJ, though police are working to help figure out who was responsible for the Saturday night mishap.
