Mill Park

Augusta's Mill Park has become an increasingly utilized park in Maine's capital city. From family and beer festivals and live music in the summertime to ice skating (and perhaps the occasional snowball fight) in the wintertime.

The rink at Mill Park was announced by Augusta Parks and Recreation in early 2021.

Massive Storm

The entire state of Maine saw a massive storm over the weekend resulting in over a foot of snow in some spots and the wind creating some impressive snowdrifts.

Augusta Rinks

The rink at Mill Park was, of course, buried in a huge blanket of the white stuff. Augusta Parks and Recreation wasn't about to let the rink go untouched, however. On Monday the parks crew got to work, removing layer after layer of snow until they finally got down to the ice.

Their hard work certainly paid off and is now back open to the public. Good thing too but it looks like another storm may be heading to the area at the end of the week.

Mill Park isn't the only park Augusta area locals can enjoy skating, Willaims Park also has a rink to enjoy.

Indoor Skating

If indoor skating is more your style and temperature the Alfond Youth and Community Center in Waterville has an indoor synthetic ice rink with public skating offered Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5 pm until 7 pm and on Saturdays 9 am until 11 am.

Just outside of Augusta in Hallowell is the Camden National Bank Ice Vault. Due to a limit on capacity visitors need to buy tickets online to reserve their spot on the rink and can do so here.
