You would think that being the Chief of Police would be such a time-consuming job in Maine's Capital that there would be no time for other commitments. Well, we're fortunate here in Augusta to have a superhero as our Police Chief.

According to the Kennebec Journal, Augusta's Jared Mills is not not only the Police Chief for APD, but he's also now the Assistant City Manager. The report indicates that Mills will split hit time between these two vital rolls.

Mills has been the Augusta Police Department chief since 2018. Augusta City Manager, Susan Robertson, told the KJ she is confident Mills can handle overseeing the police department while simultaneously executing his responsibilities as the assistant City Manager.

Robertson told the KJ,

“He’s been in his role as police chief for a while, he’s got a great deputy chief, and lieutenant and sergeant staffing to support him. I think he’ll do a great job. He’s got a lot of energy, he’ll have some good ideas that will be helpful. He’s just a natural leader.”

Mills will be getting a but of a raise for taking on the new gig as well. With his current annual salary at $118,643, the added position will increase his annual earnings to $126,651, an $8,008 increase.
