Alfond Youth & Community Center Announces Major Leadership Restructuring

The Alfond Youth & Community Center in Waterville has announced a major restructuring of its leadership team aimed at strengthening operations, fundraising, partnerships and future growth.

AYCC says the changes are designed to better align leaders with the organization’s major program areas while giving the nonprofit more capacity to expand its mission across central Maine.

As part of the restructuring, Patrick Guerette has been named Chief of Development and Strategic Partnerships. In the newly created position, Guerette will lead fundraising efforts while also overseeing new business opportunities, partnerships, membership, marketing and development.

Guerette previously served as AYCC’s Chief Operations Officer and has been part of the organization’s leadership team since 2012.

The former Chief Operations Officer position has now been eliminated, with its responsibilities divided among several other leaders.

Kate Roy has been appointed Executive Director of YMCA Programs. She will oversee aquatics, athletics, martial arts, wellness and other YMCA-related programming. Roy has been with AYCC since 2022.

DJ Adams has been named Executive Director of Boys & Girls Club Programs. His responsibilities will include after-school and teen programs, mentoring, the Summer Enrichment Program and other Boys & Girls Clubs of America-related initiatives. Adams joined AYCC in 2018.

Abbie Vidas has been appointed Executive Director of Camp & Hospitality Services. She will oversee Camp Tracy programs and activities, along with continued growth of The Lodge at McGrath Pond, including events and hospitality operations. Vidas has been with AYCC since 2017.

Chief Financial Officer Corenna Howard will also take on additional responsibilities, including oversight of the organization’s Information Technology and Facilities departments. Howard joined AYCC in June.

AYCC Chief Executive Officer Steven Scraggs said the restructuring is intended to put leaders in positions that best match their strengths.

“By aligning leadership with their areas of expertise, we are strengthening our ability to support our mission, create new opportunities, and serve our community at the highest level,” Scraggs said.

AYCC says the new structure will provide more accountability across major areas of the organization while increasing its focus on fundraising, program quality, operational efficiency and long-term growth.

The Alfond Youth & Community Center serves thousands of people each year through youth development, health and wellness, education and recreation programs. The Waterville organization is also the only fully merged Boys & Girls Club and YMCA in the world.
