
Mississippi Man Arrested in Maine After Allegedly Firing Gun While Driving
Bangor police say a Mississippi man is facing multiple charges after allegedly firing shots from a vehicle while driving through a residential neighborhood early Monday morning, WGME reported.
Officers responded to the Old Capehart area following multiple 911 calls reporting a man in a white car shooting a firearm while driving. Concerned neighbors reported hearing gunfire and seeing the vehicle moving through the streets, prompting a rapid police response. Thew WGME 13 explained that a witness later provided security camera footage that appeared to capture the alleged incident, helping authorities identify the suspect.
Police say 24-year-old Trai Moore of Mississippi was located at a motel on Odlin Road in Bangor. WGME said that Moore initially refused to exit his vehicle during a brief standoff with officers, but he was eventually taken into custody without further incident.
Moore now faces several serious charges, including reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, criminal restraint, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. Authorities have not released information regarding a possible motive or whether anyone was injured during the incident.
Per WGME 13, he was transported to the Penobscot County Jail, where he remains in custody pending further legal proceedings. Police say the investigation is ongoing, and anyone with additional information about the incident is asked to contact the Bangor Police Department.
This event has left the community shaken, highlighting concerns about public safety and the dangers posed by firearms in residential areas. Law enforcement officials are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately.
