If it seems like something wild is going on in the skies over Central Maine on Wednesday morning, worry not, it's all part of the plan.

But what exactly is the plan? Well the plan is that a Maine National Guard chopper, specifically an iconic Black Hawk helicopter, will be landing in the field at Erskine Academy in South China, Maine.

You might be wondering why a massive military helicopter will be descending on a Maine high school. Well, it's all part of the Erskine Academy College & Career Fair. It's an annual event hosted by the school for students to explore different career and higher education options.

Typically, the gym is transformed into a vendor area where dozens of local businesses and tradesmen set up booths to talk to students about what they do and how to get into that specific profession or school.

How do I know all this off the top of my head? Easy. I'm an Erskine Academy Alum (2006)! And, my oldest son Evan is a sophomore at the school. And, if we're being honest, I'm a little jealous that he gets to see this chopper land on the field tomorrow. I may have to swing over for a peek!

Erskine Academy went on to explain on their Facebook Page,

We want to give our community a heads-up that a Black Hawk helicopter will be landing at the school on Wednesday, May 21st. There is no emergency, this is part of our upcoming College and Career Fair. The Army National Guard will be bringing the helicopter to showcase to our students and to share information about careers in aviation and the military. We’re excited to offer this unique experience and grateful to the Army National Guard for their involvement!
