Body Pulled From Penobscot River in Maine on Sunday Afternoon
It's always tragic when we have to report on a body being found in Maine. Oftentimes, though sad, these events are able to provide a bit of closure for friends and family who have been missing a loved one.
With that said, Maine officials can confirm that a body was pulled from the cold waters of a Maine river on Sunday afternoon.
According to an article published by WGME 13, the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office received a call claiming that a body had been discovered near Main Road in Greenbush, Maine in the Penobscot RIver.
Sheriff's deputies with Penobscot County immediately responded to the area where the call had come in and were successfully able to retrieve the deceased from the water.
WGME is reporting on Monday morning that following recovery of the body, Maine officials transported the remains to the Office of The Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta.
At this time, police have not released the identity of the person that was discovered in the river. The medical examiner will work to not only determine the probable cause of death but also to confirm the identity of the deceased.
WGME reports that the investigation into the body found in the river is ongoing and more details are likely to be released at a later date following the conclusion of the investigation.
Our hearts go out to the friends and family of the deceased during this undoubtedly difficult time.
