WGME reports that officials indicate the bridge will be opening shortly but speeds will be reduced and the breakdown lanes will be closed. They are still advising travelers to seek alternate routes if possible.

According to WMTW News 8, the Piscatiqua River Bridge on Interstate 95 that connects Maine and New Hampshire has been completely shut down by police Thursday morning.

Channel 8 is reporting that the Portsmouth Police announced the closure just prior to 8:00 Thursday morning. They said the bridge was being immediately shut down to all traffic due to ongoing police activity.

Officials have indicated that are 'dealing with a situation with an individual' on the bridge, that's according to WGME 13.

Police are alerting the media that divers should expect major delays and should seek alternate routes for the time being.
