Broadway star Nick Cordero has died following a lengthy battle with the coronavirus.

Cordero was 41 years old. He is survived by his wife Amanda Kloots. The couple has a 1-year-old son, Elvis.

The Broadway star had been hospitalized for more than 90 days at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in New York. Nick's wife Amanda Kloots had been documenting the actor's battle with the virus on social media.

Cordero received a Tony nomination for "Bullets Over Broadway" and he starred in hit shows such as "Waitress," "A Bronx Tale the Musical," and "Rock of Ages."

Kloots confirmed the news of Nick's passing on Instagram Sunday evening.

"My darling husband passed away this morning. He was surrounded in love by his family, singing and praying as he gently left this earth," she wrote. "I am in disbelief and hurting everywhere. My heart is broken as I cannot imagine our lives without him. Nick was such a bright light."

Cordero was first admitted to the hospital after testing positive for the coronavirus in late March. The actor had his right leg amputated, was placed in a coma at one point, and had a temporary pacemaker inserted for his heart.

In an interview with CBS This Morning's Gayle King just last week, Kloots revealed that her husband had now tested negative for the virus. But said her husband remained very weak -- nothing that he would likely need a double lung transplant to maintain a quality of life.
