First Dick Clark had a stroke and a few years later passed away, sadly now I see another syndicated countdown star Casey Kasem is ill with Parkinson’s and according to this TMZ report could be in the early stages of Dementia and is now pretty much bedridden. To top it off sadly there is family drama.

I know many grew up with Casey Kasem. He was probably best known for hosting 'Casey’s Top 40' and 'American Top 40' pre-Seacrest. He was also the voice of Shaggy on Scooby Doo and the voice-over for commercial bumpers during the 80s era Saturday morning cartoon line-up on NBC.

I can remember running American Top 40 when it came on CD Sunday mornings here on the Moose back in the mid to late 90s. We ran it 8 am to 12 noon after a public service show, Powerline and a new music show called, “The Cut” I always looked for Casey in the show to say something like “you can hear American Top 40 on great stations like 92 Moose in Augusta, Maine.”

Casey quotations:
“We don’t stop ‘til we reach the top”
“The smaller the numbers, the bigger the hits”
“Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars”
