Central Maine Man Charged with Shooting & Killing Neighbors Dog
According to WGME, a Somerville man has been charged in the shooting death of a neighbor's dog. The incident was allegedly the result of a dispute between two families.
Reports indicate a long and contentious feud between neighbors Dannie Peaslee and abutting property owners Lindsay Grady and William Poulin. Grady says that there has been an ongoing dispute about property lines and that it all came to a boiling point when Peaslee shot and killed their dog.
According to a quote from Grady, “There’s been many, many things. He once dumped a truck full of manure 40 feet from our well. He shoots on the property line like within 200 feet, we’ve seen him do it and there have been many witnesses to it.”
Poulin was cited for having his dog 'at large' but disagrees with that. He indicated in the report that Peaslee could have shot the dog at Poulin's home and dragged it back to his own residence in an attempt to validate his story that the dog was on his property and was threatening him so he killed it in self defense.
According to the report from WGME both Peaslee and Poulin are due in court in January. They'll be making appearances at Wiscasset Unified Court as Somerville falls within Lincoln County lines.
