Two schools in Central Maine are closed today following what school officials are calling a 'concerning incident'.

According to an article published by WGME 13, both Maranacook High School and Maranacook Middle School will be closed today, Thursday, November 14th.

The news station is reporting that the 'concerning incident' was brought to the attention of school officials during the day on Wednesday. Both schools are right next to each other in the town of Readfield, Maine.

At this time, officials at the school say that they are working closely with the Kennebec County Sheriff's Office as deputies investigate what happened.

In addition to there being no school today, administrators have also cancelled all other activities at the school including meetings, sports practices and conferences.

At this time, there is no indication that any specific person is in danger or what the 'incident' may have been. We will continue to keep this story updated as we receive more information either from the Kennebec County Sheriff's Office or officials with Maranacook Schools.
