The Maine CDC released a statement regarding this case stating that the child diagnosed with measles was "a school-aged child from Somerset County" and that they were vaccinated. It appears the child "did not suffer any serious complications and has fully recovered."

The CDC is currently working to track down how the child was initially exposed to the virus.

Waterville Pediatrics has also given an update as to when the patient was seen if parents have any further concerns.

Waterville Pediatrics released a statement on their Facebook that there is a confirmed case of measles in the area.

If you feel your child is at risk, if you have any questions, or if your child is not vaccinated and starts to show symptoms such as high fever or rash, they are encouraging parents to call their office before bringing the child to the emergency department or Express Care.
