Get in your jumpsuits and get your favorite sports food and beverage as today is The Daytona 500 also known as "The Great American Race." The race is on Fox, and starts at 1 pm. I always watch the Daytona 500 as it is the "Super Bowl" of stock car racing. Now to my thoughts on the sport if it is a sport as I have a love hate relationship with NASCAR.

I'm not going to sit behind a keyboard and tell NASCAR how to change and improve their product as I think they are changing it too much. OK, maybe I will, just a bit.

If you want to change it, instead of creating all of these gimmicks with the chase and "lucky dog" etc. make the races shorter. I think we can get the same result in 2/3 the laps, some of these races are four hours long. Drivers admit that 75% of the race is staying in competition, the last quarter of the race is when they go all out so literally it's four lefts and the occasional crash for 300 miles.

I will say I do find the Sprint Cup races on the super speedways exciting, which include tracks like, Daytona, Talledega, and Indianapolis. I also very much want someday to get to New Hampshire to see a race first hand.

My favorite driver has always been #20, #14, #33 Tony Stewart aka "Smoke" however last year I struggled with that a little bit after the dirt track incident where he accidentally killed a driver.

This year, I would like to see Jeff Gordon (yes I said it) win the Sprint Cup in November as this is his last year or last year as a full time driver. A few other drivers I like, as I mentioned Tony Stewart, even though I feel icky saying that, Kevin Harvick and Earnhardt Jr.

Whether you call car racing a sport or not it is must see TV for the excitement and drama. Lastly, lets hope no one gets injured or anything worse happens today, "Boogity, Boogity, Boogity, Let's Go Racing"
