If you love gritty southern rock with a bluesy punch, you’ve definitely crossed paths with The Black Crowes. Hailing from Georgia, this legendary band has been delivering raw, energetic rock and roll since the late 1980s, and they’ve got the swagger and catalog to prove it.

The Crowes are so much more than just 'Hard to Handle'

Founded in 1984 by brothers Chris and Rich Robinson, The Black Crowes exploded onto the scene in 1990 with their debut album Shake Your Money Maker, featuring hits like “She Talks to Angels”, “Hard to Handle” (a cover that’s arguably more famous than the original), and “Jealous Again.” The album went multi-platinum and set the tone for their no-nonsense, rootsy sound that blended southern rock, blues, and soul.

Throughout the 1990s, they built a reputation for not only killer albums like The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion and Amorica, but also for their wild, no-holds-barred live performances. The band has always been known for doing things their own way, often clashing with the mainstream music industry, and even among themselves, because, you know, brothers.

Their latest album was an entire decade in the making

After several breakups, reunions, and side projects, The Black Crowes officially reunited again in 2019, celebrating the 30th anniversary of their debut with a tour that reminded fans just how good old-school rock can feel. Their most recent project, Happiness Bastards, released in 2024, proves that even decades later, they’re still turning it up and keeping it real.
