Now, that the unofficial end of summer is here, Maine.gov is getting ready with updates to help leaf peepers plan their foliage trips with updated weekly foliage reports.

Beginning Wednesday, Sept. 14, the Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry and the Maine Office of Tourism will provide an update on gradual change in leaf color from north to south in the state, culminating in peak conditions in late-October.

According to Maine.gov:

Generally northern Maine is at or near peak conditions the last week of September into the first week of October. Central and western mountains of Maine are at or near peak Columbus day week/weekend. Coastal and Southern Maine typically reach peak or near peak conditions mid-to-last October.
