Discover the Charm of the ‘Free Little Library’ in Maine
Reading is incredibly important, and so is the act of spreading knowledge. Guys, I remember, as a little girl, reaching for my favorite book, "Alice in Wonderland," from my dad's bookshelf.
I'd cuddle up in the wingback chair in the front room and lose myself in that magical world of fantasy. It was always such a comforting escape for me. Suffice it to say, reading has always been a huge part of my life and now I pass it on to my son!
In neighborhoods all over the country these cute little libraries are popping up. And guess what? They're free! Doesn't this just suck you in? It's absolutely adorable.
This Little Free Library has popped up in the middle of Oak Street in Mechanic Falls by Tiana Morgan. She shared the spot on Lewiston Rocks Facebook Page saying,
The nonprofit is called the Little Free Libraries and children all over are benefiting from the accessible getaway. Seeing these adorable little structures make books even more enticing and fun for the children! It began in 2012. The mission is to inspire a love of reading, build community, and increase creativity by making sure neighborhood kids have access to books and book exchanges.
According to their website, they’ve helped create over 150,000 Little Free Libraries in more than 100 countries.
They make books exciting, accessible, fun and FREE for all!
And for the adults, they offer a chance to discover new authors, old favs, or recycle and pass on books that you have already read.
Next time you are out and about in Mechanic Falls, stop by and visit this cozy little library!
