Be Prepared – Freezing Temps Return To Maine Tuesday
Just like everything else in the last year, this winter ahs really been a rollercoaster, hasn't it? While we have had some "traditional" winter weather like frigid temps and nor'easters, we've also had a lot of mild weather. For example, in the last seven days we've had everything from snow, to rain, to sunny days with a temperature in the lower 40s.
Because of that, this should not surprise any of us...
According to WMTW, tomorrow is going to be FREEZING.
In addition to the temperature dropped 20 degree (or more), the winds will pick up Monday evening through Tuesday.
Some parts of Maine could see 50 mile-per-hour gusts.
The colder temperatures and wind will lead to some crazy cold wind chills. In Augusta, the wind chill will make Tuesday morning feel like -12 degrees. In Waterville and Lewiston / Auburn, it will feel like -13 degrees!
As these colder temperatures are following an extended period of rain (and snow), there is a good chance this could lead to some significant icing on the roads - especially at higher elevations.
So, please stay warm, allow extra time to get where you're going, and stay safe.
