For the third week in a row, gas prices have shot up both here in Maine and also nationally.

According to the price monitoring site Gas Buddy, the average price for a gallon of gas in Maine is $2.365, which is up over 4 cents from last weeks average of $2.320 and over a dime from 2 weeks ago, when the average price was $2.262.

Nationally, gas prices continue to rise, also. This weeks national average for a gallon of gas is $2.409, which is up just over a penny from last weeks average of $2.395.

We searched locally for the lowest gas prices in Central Maine.

In Augusta, the lowest places we could find for a gallon of gas were at the Kenoco Station on Western Ave which is selling gas at $2.29 a gallon, and the C & S Market on 785 riverside Drive, which is reporting gas at $2.32 a gallon.

In Waterville, the cheapest price we could find for gas was at the Mobil Station on 94 Pleasant Street, which checked in with a price of $2.29 a gallon.
