It's amazing to think, it was five years ago today (December 18), General Motors announced they would stop making the Saab. I have bought my share of vehicles in my time and the Saab even when bought used is probably one of the best running cars we have ever had.

Lynn who is the primary driver of our black 2003 Saab, 9-5 Linear loves it, does the car have quirks, yes. At times it seems a bit possessed when it comes to a few things, but even with almost 200,000 miles the engine runs like a charm.

Not too bad for a $5500 automobile bought in February of 2012.

This got me thinking about other discontinued cars, the first one that comes to mind is the little Fiero. A sporty two seater produced by Pontiac back in the mid to later 80s. I never owned one, but wanted one.

Another car I really liked owning was my Cavalier. That too has been discontinued. Mine was a 1999 green automatic and was my first new car (as apposed to used). The only thing I had go wrong that probably shouldn't have with the Cavalier was that the ignition wires went. It ended up being a simple $50 fix.

I remember wanting a Geo Tracker for some reason back in the early to mid 90s but didn't get one, instead bought the Suzuki Swift which apparently is still rolling off the assembly line in Japan.

What are a few of your favorite discontinued cars?
