Following a tragic accident that happened over the weekend, a Maine family is reeling from the death of their 2-year-old son.

Saturday, at their home in Naples, Maine, a young boy was tragically killed after being struck by the truck and camper his father was moving in the driveway.

Since then, a GoFundMe has been created to help alleviate the cost of the funeral for the family.

The GoFundMe, created by Heidi McKay, goes on to say;

Hi, my name is Heidi and I am raising funds for the Young Family from Naples, Maine. Ryan and Kathrine Young lost their two year old son in a very tragic accident. They also have two teenage daughters. Their little boy was the center of all their lives. During this difficult time, they will miss work and will need help and support making arrangements for their son. Please help them get through what no parents should ever have to do.

According to a press release from Maine Department of Public Safety Spokeswoman, Shannon Moss, a young Maine boy has died following a weekend incident at his home.

Maine State Police report that a call for help came in early Saturday afternoon with reports of an unresponsive small child. Shortly after that call was placed, the Naples Fire Department reported that the boy had shown up at their fire station.

Sadly, all of the attempts to revive the boy at the fire station were unsuccessful and he was declared dead.

Police reports that the father of the 2-year-old boy had been using his truck to move a camper in the driveway. Reports indicate that the father was unable to see the toddler and that's when he was struck. Moss said the parents immediately drove the child to the fire department

Moss said that the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit, because of the age of the child, responded to the residence on Lambs Mills Road in Naples to investigate the scene.

On Saturday, September 17, 2022 at  approximately 1:06 pm the Cumberland Country Regional Communications Center received a 911 call from the area of Lambs Mills Road in Naples. Shortly after the call the Naples Fire Department reported there was an unresponsive 2-year-old child at their station. Cumberland County Deputies responded and learned the child, a male, was struck in the driveway of a residence on Lambs Mills Road. Life saving measures at the fire department were unable to revive the boy and the child was pronounced deceased. Due to the age of the child, the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit responded. The investigation revealed the father of the child was moving a pickup truck and camper trailer and unable to see the child when the child was struck.  The parents immediately grabbed the child and transported him to the Naples Fire Department. At this time names of all involved are being withheld pending notification of additional  family members.
