Ground Beef Recall Issued for Madawaska, Maine Hannaford Store
A ground beef recall has been issued for a Hannaford store in Madawaska after certain products sold earlier this week may contain foreign material.
According to WABI TV 5, the recall applies to Hannaford brand 80 percent lean and 85 percent lean ground beef purchased at the Madawaska location at 58 Main Street on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. The affected products carry a sell-by date of January 16, 2026.
Store officials are urging customers who purchased ground beef on that date to carefully check their refrigerators and freezers. Consumers are advised not to eat the product, even if it has already been frozen. The recalled beef or its packaging may be returned to the Madawaska Hannaford store for a full refund, the news station reported.
Hannaford says the advisory is limited exclusively to the Madawaska location and does not affect any other stores. At this time, no injuries or illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled products.
Food recalls involving foreign material are typically issued out of an abundance of caution to protect public safety. Customers with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact the Madawaska Hannaford store directly or speak with store management for additional guidance.
Channel 5 went on to say that anyone who believes they may have experienced an adverse reaction after consuming ground beef purchased on January 13 should contact a medical professional.
