How You Can Help Support The Victims Of The Malta Street Fire
The fire on Malta Street in Augusta has left dozens homeless and with just about nothing. The Augusta Housing Authority his putting together a resource fair for those folks to connect them with landlords and resources. But if you wish to donate the fair will have information for you too!
They will also have staff from Augusta Housing, the City of Augusta, Fresh Starts, The Red Cross, Bridging the Gap, Chelsea Food Bank, and United Way. Community members who wish to make a donation to help are welcome to stop by discover the best route to do that. Monetary donations will be accepted by the United Way of Kennebec Valley's Fire Relief Fund and information will be available from other organizations regarding how to donate needed items. Donations of food or items will NOT be accepted at the event. Only money, which all needs to go to United Way
If you would like to make a donation of goods or cash please contact the appropriate organization as they will not be taking donations at this event. You are welcome to stop by the event to find where the best place is to donate. I can tell you first hand we some amazing organizations listed above who want to help you help others.

As for the event...it will happen Thursday 03/05 from 6-8 pm, Augusta Housing will be hosting a Housing Resource Fair at Farrington School in Augusta.
As for what caused the fire? They don’t know and might never know. The fire did so much damage it will be hard to determine the cause and what is left of the building is so unstable it is dangerous according to centralmaine.com.
