It’s 2-1-1 Day! Why is 211 So Important to Mainers?

Happy 2-1-1 Day! Yes, it's February 11th, but it's also a day to bring awareness to the amazing service, 2-1-1!

Who is 211? 2-1-1 is an organization partnered with the Department of Health and Human Services, the Opportunity Alliance, and United Way. It's comprised of trained volunteers to help you get the services you need.

What is 2-1-1? 2-1-1 makes getting help, in nearly any capacity, simple. You don't need to remember a bunch of 1-800 numbers, or how access x, y, or z, service. 211 can help connect you to financial services, mental health services, finding health care, transportation, and so much more. In November of 2018 alone, 2-1-1 assisted 2,110 people with heating fuel payment assistance, and 644 people with rent payment assistance.

Where is 2-1-1? 2-1-1 is available to everyone in the state of Maine by their hotline (dial 2-1-1), via text, or through their online database at 211maine.org

When is 2-1-1 available? 2-1-1 is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. You will always find a live person on the other end of your call.

Why 2-1-1? Maine has an abundance of services, but it can be difficult to keep track of how to access everything. Plus, when one is stressed and in need, it can be hard to navigate finding help. 2-1-1 makes it easy and judgment-free.
