The Most Most Breathtaking Drives in Maine Revealed
As a guy who grew up in Northern Maine during the 1990s, I am very familiar with having simple fun. Yes, we had video games, MTV, and movie rentals, but most of the fun things we did involved being outside. We hung out at the park, went on long bike rides, and even longer family drives.
Honestly, one of my favorite family activities was piling into the car or pickup and hitting the road for a drive. It really did not matter where we were going, either. Whether we were riding the I-95 to Bangor, Rt 1 to Presque Isle, or Rt 1A to Bar Harbor, I was happy.
Now that I am a parent, I have tried to instill in my daughters the fun of taking a family drive on a summer afternoon. Whenever I have a chance, I pack them into my ride and we go to visit a new town. Windows down, music up, just having conversations as we ride.
Fortunately, Maine is filled with amazing scenic drives.
If you are at a loss of where to take your special someone, or the whole family, we've put together a list of some of the best scenic drives in Maine.

Not surprisingly, many of these drives are in rather remote parts of the state. For example, the Million Dollar View is on a remote part of Route 1 south of Houlton. Several of the others are in the far western part of the state.
