We now know the identity of the woman who was killed in that fatal pedestrian crash in Lewiston on Friday.

According to an article on the WMTW website, the victim has been identified as Elizabeth Camacho, a resident of Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Just before 1 PM on Friday, Camacho was reportedly struck by a car that jumped a curb on Park Street in Lewiston.  At first, she was taken to Central Maine Medical Center.  However, due to the severity of her injuries, she was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland.  Sadly, she passed away from her injuries.

The article goes on to explain that the vehicle, a 2013 Buick Verano, was driven by 31-year-old Lionel Francisco.

Police say Francisco only had a learner’s permit at the time and did stay at the scene of the crash, fully cooperating with investigators.

According to ICE’s online detainee locator, Francisco, who is originally from the country of Angola, is currently being held at the Strafford County Jail in Dover, New Hampshire.

Lewiston Police didn’t have details on why he’s being detained. They explained that any information about his case would need to come from immigration officials.

*NOTE - All suspects are considered innocent until being found guilty in a court of law

Our thoughts go out to the victim and her family.
