According to an article on the WCSH 6 website, one person is in critical condition following a two-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon on Whitten Road in Hallowell.
The Hallowell Police Department received a report of the crash around 2 PM near the Ice Arena.
Police say the crash involved two vehicles, each carrying two people. One of the vehicles was a Polaris Slingshot, a three-wheeled, open-air vehicle. Investigators say the Slingshot was traveling toward Augusta on Whitten Road when it passed a line of vehicles.
At the same time, a Honda CR-V was turning left into the Ice Arena. Police say the Slingshot collided with the CR-V as it was making the turn.
Both people in the Slingshot were taken to a hospital. The driver is in critical condition.
The two people inside the CR-V also went to a hospital for treatment.
The Hallowell Police Department is investigating the crash with assistance from the Maine State Police Traffic Safety Unit. State Police are conducting a crash reconstruction as part of the investigation.
Further details about the crash and the condition of the injured person were not immediately available.
