Maine & New Hampshire Named Two of the Least Friendly States For Teachers
Most of us know at least a few people who work in the education system and most would say that those people are dedicated to making sure that every child gets the most out of their education.
Many would also agree that Maine and New Hampshire are not the best places to live if you are a teacher.
A new study from WalletHub backs this up.
The study finds that Maine and New Hampshire tied in 48th place.
Hawaii was at the very bottom of the list.
Virginia was at the very top of the list.
How Did WalletHub Determine the List?
To figure out which states are the friendliest for teachers, WalletHub looked at all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The rankings were based on two main categories: “Opportunity and Competition” and “Academic and Work Environment.” Since paychecks and job stability matter a lot when it comes to balancing life and career, the first category carried extra weight.
The study used 24 different factors to measure those categories. Each factor was scored on a 100-point scale, with 100 being the best possible conditions for teachers to live and work.

In the end, WalletHub averaged the scores across all those factors for each state and the District of Columbia. That overall score determined the rankings.
