Where Does Maine Rank On The List Of ‘Sexiest States In The U.S.”?

The answer...not very high!

We love lists, and the website Enjoy Travel makes a ton of them, so when they posed this question, curiosity got the best of us.

Some states are sexier than others, according to their survey.

These rankings are based on the places where people think you’ll find America’s "most beautiful people".

"Sexy", according to the dictionary, is classified as “generally attractive or interesting”. So it comes as a brutal slap in the face that Maine was ranked so low.

Out of the 50 states, Maine was ranked 46th! Even Mainers as gorgeous as Patrick Dempsey and Anna Kendrick, couldn't get us out of the bottom end of this sexy survey.

Evidently, lobsters, LL Bean, and Paul Bunyan, aren't considered very sexy. Although you can't beat our beaches, skiing mountains, and breathtaking fall foliage views.

If you think about it, Maine is the perfect setting for one of those cheesy Hallmark Christmas movies, where two people always fall in love, but according to the list, not everyone feels the same way.

Our New England neighbors fared much better!

New Hampshire was ranked 20th, which is impressive, but our friends in Massachusetts made the Top 10, coming in at number 9. Must be that charming accent.

Overall, Illinois took the top spot, which has us wondering, what the hell is so sexy about that state?
