Meet Whopper: The Adorable Cat Who Stole Hearts In Waterville

It's funny how we come up with names for cats. As a kid, we had three in our house. Two black cats, one male and one female. The male died before I was born, but the female named Mandy was with us for some time. Later, one of Mandy's kittens was kept in the family while others were adopted. He was named Tigger, after the character in the Winnie the Pooh series of books and movies.

Since then, I have had no pets, but there are plenty out there for those who are looking for a new friend. The Waterville Area Humane Society has a cat that was posted on Facebook and the name is perfect.

Meet Whopper

Whopper weighs 15 pounds and pretty much runs the show at the Humane Society. Yes, she's named after the Burger King Whopper. It fits.

Meet Whopper, the 15 pound queen of the household, a true chonky connoisseur of naps, snacks, and side eyeing anyone who dares question her dominance. Named after the iconic Burger King burger, she’s living proof that good things come in large, round packages.
This sweet girl is as independent as they come, if she wants affection, she’ll show up for it, but if she’s busy plotting her next nap, don’t even think about disturbing her. Whopper’s got a soft spot for fellow felines, though she’s not afraid to remind them who’s boss if they cross the line.
As for dogs? She’d probably tolerate them... as long as they know their place. Kids are no problem either, she’s not one to let anyone mess with her chill, no matter their size. A true queen, in both size and spirit!

It's no surprise that Whopper was adopted very quickly after this post was published on Facebook, according to the comments on the post. But luckily, there are still plenty of pets looking for homes at Humane Societies across the state. Go for a visit and find your new best friend.
