I thought I was going crazy when I heard this in Portland, Maine.

This was THE coolest thing ever! The above YouTube is an example of what I heard. By the time I tried to get my phone out, the song was over! Some Princess Cruise ships play the 'Love Boat' theme song on their horns, including the Royal Princess, Sky Princess, Regal Princess, and Emerald Princess. The Emerald Princess docked in Portland, Maine on Tuesday, October 22 at 10 am and left that night. But it was while they were docked that they played the horn tune.

Do other cruise ships in Portland, Maine play songs on their horn?

Although the Emerald Princess has made half a dozen trips to Maine this summer and fall, they are the only ship to play a tune on their ship horn that came to Portland. Disney Cruises are also known to play songs, like 'It's a Small World', but no Disney Cruises came to Portland, Maine. Can you imagine stepping outside and hearing 'It's a Small World' blasted by a ship's horn?

Maine is a very popular destination for cruise ships

In 2023, there were nearly 380 ships that came to 8 ports in Maine, and this year is turning out to be just as busy. But it's not the summer that finds ships clamoring to Maine's harbors, it's the fall. This year 23 out of 30 days in September found a cruise ship in Portland's harbor! If only they all played cool songs on their loud ship horns.
