It's been a little over a year since veteran news reporter and anchor Pat Callaghan retired from News Center Maine after 43 years. Over those years he has been known for his political reporting from the New Hampshire primaries, moderation of debates between local candidates, and at the news desk to report election results as they come in.

With the 2024 political season well underway, Pat is coming back to what he is so good at. He is returning to the air along with political commentators Ethan Strimling (D) and Phil Harriman (R) for In The Arena on WMTW Channel 8. The trio will debut on Channel 8 after Governor Mills' State of the State address Tuesday night at 7, breaking down what we heard.

Not only will Pat be back for analysis during the political season, but he will also continue to host his In The Arena podcast, which will now be produced at the Channel 8 studios and released on Thursdays on WMTW.com and wherever you get your podcasts.

Pat talked about his return on WMTW's website, saying,

Phil, Ethan and I have always loved talking about politics and government. We hope our experience can help people understand what happens in Portland, Augusta or Washington and what it means in their lives. We try to find the lighter side when we can. Above all, disagree without being disagreeable!

I've been a fan of Pat Callaghan ever since he first took the anchor desk here in Maine. I grew up watching this man, who is a seasoned pro in the news business but also has a great sense of humor and good taste in music.

Glad to see he's now semi-retired and still will be on our TV screens.
