I get asked quite often what my favorite region of the state is.

Now, let’s be honest, that’s a bit of a Sophie's Choice question. I mean, what part of the state isn’t exceptional? However, if I had to answer, it would be the Midcoast.

It’s a region that combines coastal Maine with beautiful state parks, mountains, college towns, and perfectly charming villages. It’s also full of kind-hearted Mainers and delicious food. It’s like taking everything that’s awesome about Maine and sticking it into one stretch of the state.

Today, we’re going to focus on one of those historic towns that can be found in the Midcoast, one that is best known for building the mighty ships that help protect our country. I’m talking about Bath.

Bath, Maine, is an Absolute Gem in Midcoast Maine

Bath is a blue-collar town that prides itself on tradition and ingenuity. The town will always be best known for the iconic Bath Iron Works, the massive defense contractor that’s been building ships since 1884.

However, Bath is much more than that. It’s a lovely community with a charming downtown district, popular museums and galleries, and plenty of delicious restaurants to chow down at.

Bath’s culinary scene is wonderfully diverse, featuring a variety of cuisines and dining concepts. It’s no exaggeration to say there’s truly something for everyone. Plus, many of the eateries are located right in the village, making them incredibly easy to access on foot.
