Maine Sure Loves Its Beer, and These 2025 Numbers Prove It
Well, Gen Z must not have much of a presence here in Maine, because if 2025 proved anything, it’s that Mainers still love drinkin' beer.
And boy, did we drink plenty of it.
Whether it was a local craft brew, an ice-cold domestic, or something imported from overseas, Mainers certainly did their part to keep the beer industry thriving.
And judging by the latest numbers, it looks like Vacationland more than held its own when it came to knocking back a few cold ones.
How Much Beer Did Maine Drink Last Year?
Mainers drank a ton of brewdogs last year. How much, you ask? According to the latest data from beerinfo.com, the average Mainer consumed over 31 gallons of beer in 2025. That was good enough to rank Maine as the 11th highest state for beer consumption.
Congratulations?

That's a ton of suds. It basically means the average Mainer drank nearly six pints a week. That's a solid number, and considering many Mainers don't drink, some of those weekly averages must be pretty alarming for certain individuals. Like, there's definitely a few dudes out there who are taking down numbers we can't even perceive.
What State Drank the Most Beer Last Year?
As impressive (?) as that is, it's nothing compared to our brethren across the border in New Hampshire. The Granite Staters actually came in first for beer consumption, with an average of 43 gallons per year. Apparently, their new motto is: "Live Free, Drink a Ton, or Die."
Vermont also finished ahead of Maine, ranking 7th overall. The Green Mountain folks averaged a respectable 34 gallons of beer per year.

As for the driest state? I'll give you one guess. Yep, it's Utah, with an average of just 12 gallons. Lowly or healthy, depending on your perspective.
