Just about one month ago, it was announced that one of the longest-running cocktail bars in Portland's Old Port was closing temporarily.

That closure was because the Bar of Chocolate along Wharf Street had officially been sold and was going to undergo a few light renovations.

It appears the paperwork has been signed and the light renovations were a success because The Bar of Chocolate in Portland, Maine, is ready for its grand reopening.

The Bar of Chocolate had been under the same ownership for 21 years before the sale.

It Doesn't Appear Much Will Change With The Bar of Chocolate

For most of its 21 years, the Bar of Chocolate hasn't changed much. And that's not a bad thing.

Even with the change in ownership, there hasn't been any announcement of wholesale changes to their drink menu or their dessert menu, which have been the key draw for the cocktail bar for more than two decades.

The Bar of Chocolate has remained a dessert dive bar featuring sweet martinis and an even sweeter selection of treats.
