Infrared Fitness Sauna Chain Set to Open First Location in South Portland, Maine

With a new year comes plenty of resolutions. One of the most common resolutions for people is to get into better shape. For others, it's as simple as trying something new and sticking with it.

With that in mind, a new fitness concept that is about to open near the Maine Mall in South Portland might be the best of both worlds; an opportunity for people to work on their fitness while also trying something new.

It's called HotWorx, and the concept of the fitness center is that the workouts take place inside of an infrared sauna. If you're suddenly gasping for air at the thought of an intense workout in the heat of a sauna, don't be. The infrared sauna is a completely different world.

HotWorx explains the key differences piece by piece, and why the infrared sauna workouts can be so effective for many people. The two major key points are that you can breathe and sweat more effectively in the unique infrared sauna heat. They also offer something called Hot Thunder, which they bill as a workout that is the first of its kind in the world.

HotWorx isn't entirely new to the majority of New England. Their current locations in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire have been so successful that the chain decided to open their first location in Maine.

HotWorx is set for a grand opening soon at their new location at 100 Gorham Road in South Portland. They're located in the old Bass shoe building that has been renovated next to Restore Hyper Wellness.
