Chances are, your summer is going to include visits to the beach, perhaps a hike or two throughout Maine's incredible park system, or maybe even a lighthearted walk through one of Vacationland's quaint villages.

All of those sound great, but you're still going to need to eat. And if you're looking for a place that serves delicious food alongside some delicious nostalgia, look no further than Val's Drive-In in Lewiston.

According to Taste of Home, Val's Drive-In is one of the twenty best old school drive-in restaurants in the entire country. While the concept of the drive-in restaurant isn't nearly as popular as it once was, there are still hundreds of them from coast to coast still slinging up great food and a great atmosphere.

If you've never been to Val's, it truly is an experience. For more than six decades, Val's Drive-In in Lewiston has been keeping locals happy with their classic burgers, onion rings, red snappers, and frosty mugs filled with root beer.

It's a total throwback joint where the service comes directly to you without ever having to step out of your vehicle. Place your order to-go or stick around in the large parking lot, and enjoy the pub fare with a tray hanging from your car window.

The menu has grown over the years as well.  Val's has a little something to make everyone happy, with cheesesteaks, chicken, seafood, and a couple desserts available to devour. If you're daring enough, you can take on their "heart attack", which is one of their peppery burgers juiced up with double the cheese and a pile of bacon.

Val's has opened for the 2024 season. Check their updated hours here.
