Take Your Family on This Historically Unique Trail With Wooden Creatures Along the Way

As an avid hiker in New Hampshire, I know many epic trails that are 4,000 footers. They're difficult, yet super rewarding.

Not all hikes need to be as challenging as what I tend to go for. Plus, you might not want to take your four-year-old up Mount Washington for their first hike.

No, that's silly. Many of my favorite hikes are simple, relatively flat, and easy. These types of hikes are great for families with kids.

I recently wrote about a trail in New Hampshire known as the Winnie the Pooh Trail. It is an interactive hike with features for kids and Winnie the Pooh fans such as Piglet's House, Christopher Robbin's House, Rabbit's place, and so on. With lots of parents reaching out and appreciating the info about the Winnie the Pooh trail, I decided to find another!

This trail is known as the hike to Jake's Pond in Hancock, New Hampshire. Similar to the Winnie the Pooh trail, the hike to Jake's Pond is interactive with carved wooden features from start to finish.

The trail is two-and-a-half miles long and starts out of the Harris Center for Conservation Education in Hancock.

While you take your kiddos and your family walks to the pond, be on the lookout for snakes, salamanders, and even dragons.

Your kids will love this nature walk.

This trail is also very unique because it holds an educational value, something most nature walks do not.

"The pond is named after Jack, a once-enslaved African who gained his freedom and lived nearby in the late 1700s and early 1800s," according to the Harris Center for Conservation Education website.
