Sometime around the beginning of June here in New England, we think about activities for the family or, if you're like me, you think about strawberries.  Not the ones that you buy at Hannaford or Market Basket, I'm talking about the strawberries that you get from a local farm or you can pick yourself.  What a time to be alive!

Where are the Best NH Strawberry Patches?

Sunshine and strawberry picking is one of the best things about the entire month of June. Actually, it goes into the beginning of July too.  It's a great activity for the whole family.  It's like a concert where everyone loves the music - everyone loves strawberries.  (Unless of course, you are allergic to them, then you probably hate them, but I digress....)

A Google search gave me a list of farms, but not all of them listed had strawberry fields. ("Forever".... How could I not.)  So, I've compiled a list for you of our favorites, including my family's farm.

Trombly Gardens in Milford, New Hampshire is My Favorite

I grew up here in New Hampshire.  My parents grew up here as well.  On my Mother's side, her Father, Ectus Trombly and his wife, Josephine had a dairy farm. originally named, Sunny Prairie Farm.  There are stories of my Grandfather milking the cows and squirting the kids when they came near, much to his delight.  Not sure how the kids felt about it.

Ectus and Josephine worked that farm along with their 8 kids until my Uncle Stanley Trombly took it over.  Stanley's son, Steve Trombly ran it after that and now, Steve's son, Sean runs the family farm.  Four generations!  My apologies for forgetting anyone who may have had a huge part in running the farm in the past or in the present.

Trombly Gardens is now a must stop place for the Milford community with their selection of fruits, veggies and ready made food.  Some of which my brother, John Sullivan, the O.G. Yankee Chef, provides.  That's what farms do.  They give back to their Community with the absolute best food there is.

Brookdale Fruit Farm is another one that is near and dear to my heart.  I grew up in Hollis, so I used to ride my bike past that farm when I was far to young to be riding the country roads of Hollis all by myself.  I'm of that age when your parents really didn't mind much if they didn't see you for hours at a time.  As long as you were home before dark.

NH Strawberry Field Hopping Could Be a Thing

Check out all the farms below. There are sure to be ones that are close to you and ones that you might have to take a road trip to see.  In my book, there's nothing better than a working farm, so maybe you try to see them all.  If you stop by the old homestead in Milford, make sure you say hello to my cousins!  They are amazing people!  I might be a little biased, but you'll agree once you meet them.
