You might not have realized, but there's a new movie theater near Gillette Stadium.

If you're thinking, "Wait, I thought there already was one at Patriot Place," there was. That would have been the Showcase Cinema De Lux, which opened in 2008 but closed in January 2026, according to the Sun Chronicle.

Now, after a multi-million-dollar renovation in that space, Phoenix Theatres Patriot Place has opened with a majorly revamped movie theater that might just make it worth your trip for the experience.

A Facebook post revealed that after months of work, Phoenix Theatres Patriot Place opened on July 1, 2026.

It's located at 24 Patriot Place in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

The new Phoenix Theatres Patriot Place is more than just a name change. In fact, there's a whole bunch of new features, including two major ones: heated seats and no commercials before the movie.

Maybe I'm just out of the loop, but I had no idea heated seats at the movies were even a thing. Apparently, this is just one of those luxury amenities that elevate the experience.

Turns out, multiple theater chains like Cinemark and AMC Theatres have them as well. According to WTVG, Phoenix Theatres started installing them back in 2018.

Phoenix Theatres stated in a press release that the heated loveseats will be large, fully reclining, and have "an adjustable middle armrest and ample legroom." Just don't get too cozy and fall asleep!

What New Extras Are at Phoenix Theatres Patriot Place in Foxborough, Massachusetts?

Besides the heated seats, Phoenix Theatres Patriot Place boasts that no commercials are shown before the movie. Sure, there might be some movie trailers, but no ads trying to sell you car insurance or trying to get you to buy the latest thing will appear.

A Facebook post noted that its ENCORE auditoriums feature Dolby ATMOS sound, which offers a "fully immersive three-dimensional sounds environment placing you in the center of all the action."

The Sun Chronicle even reported that there is a self-serve beer and wine "wall."

It definitely sounds like way more than just "seeing a movie." And with the way people stay home to stream things, it feels like the right move to offer those things you just can't get in your own living room.
