That Murderous Plymouth Fury Is Back in John Carpenter’s New ‘Christine’ Music Video

The ’80s are back, baby, and what with all these Stephen King adaptations and delightful Netflix pastiche TV shows, the nostalgia fever is only going to continue. John Carpenter may not have made a feature since 2010’s The Ward, but the horror master is back in the director’s chair once again for a new music video heralding the arrival of his movie theme compilation album next month.

Carpenter’s Christine theme is one of his most recognizable, partly because its seven synth-y notes will get stuck in your head for hours on end. It’s full of his characteristic growly, sinister tones and matches perfectly with one of the best King adaptations ever made. Yes, like so many other things this week, this is also related to Stephen King! The 1983 movie Christine is based on the King novel of the same name, also published in 1983, which tells of a vintage car possessed by supernatural forces.

The new music video goes along with John Carpenter’s Anthology: Movie Themes 1974-1998, which is available for pre-order here. It contains his best work from that quarter-century, including music from Assault on Precinct 13, They Live, and The Thing. Here’s the full track listing:
