Maine Elementary School Principal Resigns Amid Abuse Allegations

The principal of Kennebunk Elementary School has resigned after allegations surfaced involving his treatment of a special education student.

According to the Press Herald, the RSU 21 School Board voted unanimously Monday night to accept the resignation of Principal Ryan Quinn.

The resignation follows allegations made by an ed tech who claimed Quinn was physically abusive toward a 5-year-old boy at the school. According to the report, the ed tech accused Quinn of picking the child up under his arm and forcibly turning the boy’s head in an attempt to make him pay attention.

Quinn had previously been placed on leave while the district reviewed the situation. Police also investigated the case earlier this year, but ultimately did not file charges.

The school board’s vote makes Quinn’s resignation official, closing out his time as principal amid the allegations.
